Sometimes life is about being in the right place at the right time. Just ask the 740 Boyz about it. Back in 1991, while he was remixing one of his group's singles at INS Studios in downtown Manhattan, 2 In A Room's Dose met up with Winston Rosa (a.k.a. Pose) , a talented engineer whose credits included working with diverse artists such as Diamond D., Eric Kupper, Sting International, Positive K., and Shaggy. Dose and Win instantly hit it off and they soon became friends and musical brothers in rhythm. "I saw that he worked really hard and had a solution for everything in the studio, and that's a very rare talent," Dose fondly recalls. "And he happened to be Dominican as well, so we had a lot in common."

In between fulfilling his ongoing commitments with 2 In A Room, the two started working on tracks together. After a series of experimentations, they came up with the notion to do a booty shakin' Miami bass-style record.   "We've both done some serious house and hip-hop, but it was a challenge to do something that we weren't necessarily into at first," admits Dose. "It was different and we tried to do the opposite of what we normally do and it worked. This music is a club thing meant for partying and hanging out, and we vibed with it."

Using the moniker which Win used on another project, 740 Boyz struck quickly with "Shimmy Shake", which soared up the global charts in 1994. But the song had a second life when Mixmaster Costantino Padovano lent his magical production touch to a remix which rocket the vibrant house interpretation of "Shimmy Shake" once again right through the top of the charts all over the world. "I never expected that our first record would blow up," smiles Win, "especially because we did it in just two days. When Mixmaster remixed the track, it sounded dope and he said that it was going to blow up. He was so right!"

In between maintaining a year-long schedule of constant live shows all over Europe, which also features mainstay impresario/dancer Pickles, 740 Boyz managed to find the time to complete their party perfect self-titled 18-song affair. Packed with spicy bass tunes, skits and assorted musical treats, it's a hi-octane trip which constantly breaks the speed limit.

Naturally, having singles like "Bump Bump (Booty Shake)" blow up in France, Poland, Germany and Denmark just encouraged them to stay the course. "People in America take things slowly, but that's okay because people know who we are and we're developing our following. It takes a while, but we're patient people."

With bangin', hook-filled tracks like "Hot In Here" busting through the speakers, the album also meshes the group's Latin background for a solid effect. "Con Gana (Mueve El Culito)" features Spanish vocals and a guest appearance from Dose's show stopping comedic alter-ego, Fulanito.
