Having achieved gold record status from the U.S. to Australia, 2 IN A ROOM's most popular single "WIGGLE IT" brought themselves worldwide attention and standing. With the success of "Wiggle It" in 1990, 2 IN A ROOM topped Billboard's Hot Dance Music Club Play and 12-Inch Singles Sales charts. In addition, widespread radio airplay pushed the record up the Hot 100 Singles chart to Top 15. The previous release, "DO WHAT YOU WANT," rocked the night clubs and exploded onto the U.K. charts giving birth to their stylized hip-house music.  

For writer/producer/rapper/singer Rafael Vargas, this success started as a way to get attention. Rafael Vargas, tagged "DOSE" by his 179th Street posse, was a shy youth who found the arts a needed vehicle for self-expression. "I've always been quiet," he confesses. "I needed something so I'd stand out on the street." DOSE's energetic stage presence leaves no clue that he is timid. "Expressing myself vocally is what I do best," says DOSE who keeps performance in mind when he's writing new material. "I think about how it'll sound in the clubs and on radio......and how I'm gonna pull it off on stage."

DOSE later teamed up with newcomer rapper Elvin Ovalles (a/k/a "FLOODLIGHT") and released their next single, 1994's "EL TRAGO (the drink)." The single merged the talents of 2 IN A ROOM and music producers Danny "Holiday" Vargas and Victor Vargas (a/k/a The Wepa Man). The result of their chemistry rocket the single into Billboard's Hot 100 Singles and Hot Dance Music Club Play charts, and reached Top 5 on the Maxi-Singles Sales chart. Adding to their accomplishments, the single even pushed its way internationally including Top 40 on the U.K. national pop chart. Their follow-up single, 1995's "AHORA (now)" featured The Wepa Man's singing debut, charted its way Top 50 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music Maxi-Singles Sales chart as well as Top 10 on the national pop charts of Spain with remixes from Max Music. In 1996, the group continued its way to success with "CARNIVAL," having charted in the Top 25 on Billboard Hot Dance Music Club Play and Maxi-Singles Sales charts and Top 3 on the national pop charts of Spain.
