Maria Respeto well known as "Giggles" was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from South Shore H.S., where she obtained her vocal and musical training. She became very popular when she wrote and recorded "Love Letter" for Cutting Records. It immediately played on every major radio stations in New York and became a huge crossover hit. The success of "Love Letter" enabled her to perform in clubs throughout New York and the West Coast.
Giggles later released another single titled "Hot Spot" in 1989, which was poised to hit it big as well. It was released on Atlantic Records. Her vocals with strength, delivered verse and chorus in fine style, which proved how well trained this young lady was at the age of 20. She also had two male dancers which added great presence to her well choreographed show, and as a result, had received an overwhelming response. Giggles had finally come back with a very strong single on Cutting Records titled, "What Goes Around...Comes Around". This record definitely put her right where she belonged, on top of the charts. Giggles had won the best dance song of the year in 1992 from the New York Music Awards for "What Goes Around...Comes Around". Her album included such hits as "He Said, She Said" and "Memories of Love", which also received major radio play.
